(Madison, Wis.) – Garrett Slavik was recently named a Vita Plus dairy specialist and will serve dairy producers in central Michigan.  He will work closely with farm teams to provide nutrition and management solutions to meet their goals.  He will also work closely with Vita Plus teammates to offer the latest in research and technical expertise to further serve customers.

Slavik grew up on his family’s 160-cow dairy farm in central Michigan, where he helped mix and feed dairy rations, treat sick animals, and manage all the farm’s heifers.  He attended Michigan State University (MSU) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in animal science in 2015.  While at MSU, Slavik gained experience as a dairy nutritionist through an internship with a feed company.  In this role, he assisted with field studies on milk fat prediction models and heat abatement with infrared cameras.  Slavik was hired as a full-time dairy nutritionist after graduation and was tasked with formulating rations and providing value-added services.  In his spare time, Slavik helps judge dairy cattle at local county fairs and volunteers regularly at his church.
