Western Named Vita Plus Dairy Specialist (January 2019)

(Madison, Wis.) Marin Western was recently named a Vita Plus dairy specialist based in central Michigan.  Western will work closely with a team of nutritionists to provide farm-specific nutrition and management strategies.  She will continuously provide the highest level of scientific-based advice and research to help dairy producers reach their production goals.

Western recently received her master’s degree in dairy nutrition at Michigan State University (MSU) through the Vita Plus Dairy Nutrition and Management Fellowship.  Part of her fellowship research focused on dairy cow production responses to different fat supplements, which she presented at the 2018 Tri-State Nutrition Conference and took first place in the master’s degree division.  Western also earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science and agribusiness management from MSU.  She previously worked for Vita Plus as an intern, where she performed research focused on critical analysis of bacteria and various spoilage agents in forages across 40 dairy farms in Wisconsin.
