Dado-Senn named Vita Plus calf and heifer technical specialist

(Madison, Wis.) – Dr. Bethany Dado-Senn recently joined Vita Plus as a calf and heifer technical specialist. She will be based in northwestern Wisconsin, providing technical expertise to help producers raise the next generation of their milking herd. She will also be an active member of the calf and heifer team supporting Vita Plus consultants as they serve producers across the Upper Midwest.

Dado-Senn grew up on her family’s dairy farm in Amery, Wisconsin, where her family continues to dairy. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned a bachelor’s degree in dairy science and genetics. She then attended the University of Florida to complete her master’s degree in animal molecular and cellular biology. While working on her master’s and starting on her Ph.D., Dado-Senn’s research focused on the impacts of environmental heat stress on dairy cattle physiology. She was also involved in studying the practical application of environmental management techniques on today’s dairies.

She moved from Florida to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to complete her Ph.D. in dairy science. At Wisconsin, her research focused on environmental heat stress impacts on the gestating dairy cow and her offspring. She has published 22-peer reviewed publications and nine popular press features while giving 19 research presentations. On campus, Dado-Senn was active in the Animal Sciences graduate student association and was president of the American Dairy Science Association – Graduate Student Division.
