Connelly named Vita Plus dairy nutritionist and technical services specialist

(Madison, Wis.) – Dr. Meghan Connelly recently joined Vita Plus as a dairy nutritionist and technical services specialist.  Connelly is starting in Madison, Wisconsin, working on special research and technical projects.  Long-term, she will be based in eastern Minnesota, providing nutrition and management expertise to help dairy producers reach their production goals.  Connelly will remain up-to-date on current research and technologies to provide technical assistance to her local team.

Connelly grew up working on her family’s dairy farm, Terra McCree Holsteins in Byron, Minnesota, and continues to remain active in the operation.  She attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where she earned a bachelor’s degree in dairy science and agricultural business.  Connelly became the Vita Plus Dairy Fellowship Student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2016 and continued there to complete her Ph.D. in dairy science with an emphasis in lactation biology.   Her research focused on understanding calcium metabolism in the transition cow and the relationship between calcium and serotonin during lactation.  Connelly has been an active volunteer in numerous industry and collegiate organizations focused on consumer outreach.  She was recently recognized by the American Dairy Science Association as a Midwest Branch Young Dairy Scholar.
